Ikhtilaf ( Disagreement in Islam): A conceptual study in Quranic Context

Khalida Majid

Abstract

ikhtilaf is a repeatedly occurring discussion in the Qur’an, with references to the diverse phenomena of nature and diversity as a sign of Allah and proof of Allah’s existence and creation. But Normally, when we are in agreement, it is easy for us to behave properly with each other. However, when we are in disagreement, we don't always behave properly. What makes it worse is when people try to justify their misbehavior by pretending that they are very religious. People who do this pretend that they are very concerned about the Deen of Allah. When in reality, they are just ignorant of the teachings of Islam and Islamic behavior. It is essential to refer all matters of conflict between Muslims to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him). This is extremely needed for the Muslim to know and to go through with it because it indicates the complete submission to Allah without which one would not be a Muslim.
