Abstract

Empowerment of rural society through various programs defines the process of bridging the inequalities among sections of people. The development strategies are often debated as misnomer due to the failure of creating an all-round development at the grass root level. One of such programme is the IAY (Indira Gandhi Awaas Yojana) implemented in the district of Karbi Anglong for rehabilitating the conflict induced internally displaced persons. While serving rehabilitation process, various other requirements for sustaining livelihood could not be addressed leading to more plights of the people. Thus the present study is an attempt to understand the implementation of the programme and role played by the programme in empowering the people.
