Awareness on Cloud and Mobile Technology Based Services among Central University Library Users of Northeast India: A Case Study
Cloud Computing is technology used to describe a new class of network based computing that takes place over the Internet; basically a step on from Utility Computing or using the Internet for communication and transport provides hardware, software and networking services to clients. These platforms hide the complexity and details of the underlying infrastructure from users and applications by providing very simple graphical interface or API. When cloud technology is introduced along with mobile, it provides an effective serve for the individual at his/ her own hand.
Now a day’s library is also trying to reach to its users by giving fast services effectively. In this paper an attempt has been taken to review the cloud or mobile technology status of university library services in the northeast, India. For these study data have been collected from primary and secondary source of information. Finding of this study shows that currently six universities of northeast going to adopt cloud and mobile phone technology in their curriculum activities. It also finds that the technology is provided by Microsoft's Azure for Cloud computing, which will be included in the July curriculum of those universities. Majority of the respondent are not aware of this service till date. Besides this, some suggestions and recommendations also have been given to better use of cloud or mobile technology for those universities.
