Parenteral Diarrhea in Children and Urinary Tract Infection
Objective: To assess frequency of UTI associated with diarrhea in children.
Materials and Methods: Non randomized convenient sampling was conducted and 100 patients with diarrhea were selected. Aseptic technique was used for catheterization of patients and collection of urine sample. Urine culture report and common clinical features were noted down. A Standarized management criterion was used to manage cases.
Results: There were 30 patients with confirmed urinary tract infection out of 100 selected patients. The organisms isolated include E.Coli, Citrobacter and Pseudomonas.
Conclusion: In the present study, E.Coli was found as the common cause of diarrhea due to UTI, followed by Citrobacter and Pseudomonas.
