Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge of mothers regarding behavioural problems in children (1-12 years).

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge of mothers regarding behavioural problems in children (1-12 years) in selected urban slums . Pre -experimental one group pre-test post-test design was used for this study. The tool used for data collection consists of:Knowledge assessment structured questionnaireon behavioural problems & Structured  health teaching on behavioural problems of children.

Findings of the study revealed that,in pretest, majority i.e. 86.7% of the subjects had poor knowledge (Score 0-8) and 13.3% of them had average knowledge (Score 9-16). In posttest, majority i.e. 71.7% of them had good knowledge (Score 17-25) and 28.3% of them had average knowledge (Score 9-16). The study concludes thatthere is significant difference in the pre-test and post-test knowledge scores; this indicates that the structured teaching program is effective in improving the knowledge of subjects.
